Rights & Permissions Service

The Scholarly Communications & Copyright Office provides a Rights & Permissions Service to assist UBC faculty and instructors with course-related copyright permissions.

Services include:

Copyright Permissions
Obtaining and tracking course-related copyright permissions and transactional licenses for faculty and instructors

Processing Items in Library Online Course Reserves
Ensuring that all requests for copyrighted materials in the new Library Online Course Reserves system are processed uniformly according to the requirements and guidelines of the University

Records Management
Maintaining records of all permissions and transactional licenses undertaken by the Office

For assistance with permissions for course readings, the preferred approach is to create your reading list in the Library Online Course Reserves system. This system provides you with an easy way to add articles, books, web links, and media resources to an online list associated with your course, and it allows us to take care of any related copyright concerns as efficiently as possible.

For assistance with permissions for materials other than course readings, please contact copyright.services@ubc.ca.

For inquiries about existing permissions requests, please contact our Rights & Permissions Manager, Simonida Jocic: simonida.jocic@ubc.ca | 604-822-6742
